Thanks to our friend Jordan Cieciwa of Professional Edge Fitness! It seems that with the passing of Steve Jobs it is even more relevant to talk about pancreatic cancer. We are saddened to hear about the untimely passing of Steve Jobs, and are yet again reminded of how vicious Pancreatic Cancer truly is. http://news.nationalpost.com/2011/10/05/steve-jobs-dead-apple/ We take a moment of silence, and vow to make Pancreatic Cancer History.

November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month!
In Canada, only 5 out of every 100 people diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer will survive 5-years with the disease. A statistic that has remained virtually unchanged in 40 years. The time to act is now.
Currently, Pancreatic Cancer receives less than 1% of all funding, even though it is responsible for 5% of all cancer related deaths.
Throughout the month of November you can help make change! Drop off any and all rolled coin or donations to any Cambrian Credit Union location in Manitoba in support of our Pennies for PanCan Challenge, and together we will make a difference.
Help us make Pancreatic Cancer HISTORY.
Who Are We?
We are a dedicated grassroots organization based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada fighting to get Pancreatic Cancer Awareness and research on the map.
Although Pancreatic Cancer is responsible for 5% of all Cancer deaths, it receives less than 1% of all Cancer funding.
We are working hard to change those numbers, and we need your help!If you are interested in volunteering, sponsoring, or advocating to ensure we change the face of Pancreatic Cancer, email us at pancanmb@gmail.com
We were formed on June 10th, 2010 and spent the first year generating interest, awareness and making key contacts.
Our Mission
To help fund the expansion of the Manitoba Tumour Bank to include Pancreatic Tumors.
How will this help?
• Staffing resources to increase the number of consented patients to the bank and to increase the number of biological samples banked from these patients.
• Education to the patients on the ongoing research efforts within CancerCare Manitoba.
• Increase the number of technicians within the bank to process the increased biological samples from patients including tumour samples.
• Expanding and maintaining a database linking patient data to the Cancer Registry that captures all pancreatic cancer patients in the province. This data will be linked with other provincial and national databases to help increase pancreatic cancer research.
